The Hermès Picotin 22 or MM (Moyen Model) is a luxurious take on the traditional bucket bag. Picotin bags harken back to Hermès’ roots as harness and tack leatherworks for French nobility. Inspired by horse feed bags and named for the portion of grain the bags hold, this humble inspiration led to one of the most casual of Hermès luxury handbags with a slouchy style and contemporary appeal. 

The Picotin 22 has a wider opening than the bag’s base, echoing the lines of the feedbag. Two wide leather flat straps slip over your forearm or can be carried by hand. The bag is unlined, with the softly sueded back of the bag’s leather forming the open, roomy interior. Four metal feet support the Picotin, lifting the leather off the surface where the bag is set, keeping the bag clean. Since 2002, the simple leather strap closure has sported the iconic Hermès lock, giving these bags the name “Picotin lock”.
