Craie is one of the most sophisticated and coveted colors in the vast rainbow of shades produced by Hermès. Craie, the French word for “chalk”, is so much more than an “off-white.” The Hermès Craie color contains undertones with hints of blush and smoke. The rosy tinge simply glows when Craie leather is paired with rose gold hardware.

First introduced in the Fall / Winter 2013 collection, this rich, neutral shade is  one of the most coveted and most expensive colors for Hermès bags in non-exotic skins. One step up from white, the Hermès Craie color is reminiscent of the discontinued Parchment and the current Nata. Both these colors have yellow undertones that are absent in the warmer, year-round perfect Craie color.

Hermès Craie comes in many leathers. It is most elegant in epsom leather, which is limited to Birkin and Kelly Sellier bags. It is beautiful, but more casual in Togo leather, which is available in the Retourne style bags. Craie also comes in Swift, Clemence and Evercolor. Craie bags are offered with gold, rose gold and palladium hardware. The edges of Birkin and Kelly bags made in Craie Hermès leather are finished with pale beige beeswax, adding a subtle refinement.

 Craie pairs beautifully with most other Hermès colors, so it is often the primary or accent color of bi-color Special Order or Horseshoe Stamp (HSS) bags.
