This shawl is in cashmere and silk and in a blue lavender colorway.
It was designed by the collective Ardmore and issued in 2017. It is the first collaboration between the Ardmore -- a collective of Zulu, Zimbabwean and Sotho artisan potters in South Africa -- and Hermes. It focuses on the velvet monkey (which represents intelligence and wit) facing the predatory leopard (which symbolizes royalty) while Giant King Protea, South Africa's national flower, bloom amidst the confrontation. The scene is framed by amazumpa motifs, used in Zulu pottery.
