Introduced in 2011 by then-creative director Karl Lagerfeld, the Chanel Boy bag was an immediate sensation. Named for Arthur Edward ‘Boy’ Capel, Coco Chanel’s first love and financier, the Chanel “boyfriend” bag marries the feminine lines of the Chanel bag with a boyish charm. The androgynous style has proven wildly popular with younger Chanel fans.

The new medium Chanel Boy Bag is distinctly boxier, measuring 11” x 3.5” x 7”. While both medium bags have a long chain handle for wearing over your shoulder, most women prefer the old medium for wearing crossbody, rather than the new.
